Matt Drabble, the author of “Gated”, “Abra-Cadaver” and “Asylum-13 Horror Stories”, has released another popular work “After Darkness Falls-Volume One”. Ten horror stories will definitely make you shudder.
The book opens with “Roll Up, Roll Up” and tells the story of a little boy who is afraid of clowns and a father who decides to cure him of his fear. The next time the circus comes to town, you better think twice!
“Be Careful What You Wish For” is a story about greed and the rewards of justice. Albert is a sadistic, mean-spirited man who has been planning a perfect crime for the past eight years. He plans to get a huge reward after committing the perfect murder and killing the victim.
In You Call That Music, we find Ricky a friendless teenager. He’s given up on trying to fit in at school and is obsessed with heavy metal music. The late Jimmy Blaze, lead singer of the band Forsaken Children, has long been a beloved character. When Ricky gets the chance to hear Jimmy’s so-called lost album, he’s ecstatic, but by some miracle, he’s asked to help decorate for tonight’s school dance. After Ricky leaves, his mom finds the album and decides to give it a listen, but little does she know that this is Jimmy’s last act of defiance, and what a great one it is!
“Recycling May Be Harmful to Your Health” shows what happens when you try to save money. Duane Jones, the son of a millionaire, is a loser who always makes mistakes. During his summer break from college, Duane’s father decides to let Duane work at the funeral home he owns. The funeral home has not been profitable for a long time, and since Duane is a business major, his father wants Duane to prove himself and turn a profit. Duane has a bright idea that he can resell the same casket over and over again. The only problem is that the dead want what they paid for.
We all know the saying “You are what you eat”, and in this story, it’s very literal! Daisy “Duke” McHale is a writer for a health magazine. Her boss, Mike, has just sent her to investigate a health expert who has connections to a fast food chain. The result changes Duke’s life. Health expert Casper offers Daisy a job, and now Daisy is in the best shape of her life. Casper concocts an elixir like no other, and in fact, six months later, Daisy finds herself looking younger and more toned than ever before. What’s the secret to the elixir? And why is it the only thing she craves?
All of these stories are unique in themselves. They all give us a glimpse into the lives of others. I really enjoyed these stories and I think you will too.
