Todd Kesling, The Last Reconciliation Review – Horror Fiction Review

“And then I heard the voice. I had heard that voice before in Camilla’s room. It called to me again, a low, quiet breath on a warm breeze. A voice that rose and fell with the tide, hissing with the black foam and the spray of salt water, a clamor of ancient secrets and wisdom.
It read: “Take off your mask. Take off your mask.”

By Paula Limbaugh

Wow! Todd Kesling did not disappoint. Ever since I heard this book was coming out I was expecting a great story and you know what, Todd delivered! Rock and roll, heavy metal…the music that Baptists have long called the devil. The King in Yellow is on his way! Final settlement is the story of a band and their rise to fame.

30 years on from that fateful night, sole survivor Aidan Cross, formerly lead guitarist for the band The Yellow Kings, is ready to share his story with interviewer Miles Hargrove. Our narrator Aidan takes us down a dark path that led to the tragic night of the band’s final concert.

Like hundreds of other bands, The Yellow Kings were trying to make a name for themselves, playing local shows in the hopes of becoming an overnight sensation. Under the guidance of their manager Reggie Allen, they began to get the exposure they craved, things started to look up, and then Carmilla came into their lives.

Camilla, Gypsy, as Aidan likes to call her, is the beginning of their end. They think she’s just another groupie looking to sleep with the band. But, Camilla has other agendas, she’s in a relationship with lead singer Johnny Lefhauser, and Camilla is in on the action, and oh, what a ride it is. Even Aidan’s suspicions aren’t enough to see her for who she really is, until it’s too late. By then, their fate is sealed.

The chapters are arranged like tracks on an album, taking us on a journey full of heavy metal influences all the way to the bitter and twisted finale. The King in Yellow Robert W Chambers’ novel has influenced many stories over the decades since it was first published in 1895. Todd does a great job of keeping the myth alive. Final settlement. This is a story you don’t want to miss!

The book will be released on February 3rd and is available for pre-order now. The pre-order price is only 99 cents now, and the price will go up soon, so hurry up and buy it! here!
