Q&A with writer Jon Morris
What prompted you to write a series about regrettable comic characters?
We are in the middle of superhero prosperity in the movie. I think it would be fun to illuminate lesser-known characters.
What type of research have you done?
In my life, I have read tens of thousands of comic books. For the series, I reinvested in another small library of hundreds of books, putting the pigeon into the public domain archives and starting a conversation with comic scholars from three continents!
Who is your favorite regret superhero?
I have a lot of feelings for Red Bee, a two-punch assistant district attorney whose only superpower is that he trained a bee named Michael to help him fight crime. I want to say to him, “veryone has tried to do so little.”
