A review of Thomas Koloniar’s first book, Cannibal rulereceived overwhelming critical acclaim. It was compared to Cormac McCarthy’s road and marketed as horror, science fiction, action, and thriller respectively. This acclaim has attracted many to give the book a chance.
exist Cannibal ruleIn the book, a massive asteroid is discovered to be on a collision course with Earth. Governments around the world are keeping this news secret to prevent panic, and in the meantime they are planning to destroy the object. However, an Army Special Forces agent learns that the object is hurtling through space. Instead of warning the world, he begins gathering supplies, friends, and random women he finds sexually attractive. They will live with him in an underground bunker as they wait out the inevitable chaos that will follow the asteroid impact. As the title suggests, this chaos consists mostly of cannibalism and rape.
Meanwhile, a group of scientists do learn of the asteroid. They wish to warn the world. However, they know they can’t save everyone. So, they choose to save only those Hawaii residents who are wealthy enough, and of course, the U.S. Navy (and some Marines). Cutting off the Hawaiian island chain from the rest of the United States, the men and women of Hawaii begin stockpiling supplies to withstand the coming carnage.
Finally there are the poor bastards who don’t have enough money to live in Hawaii or other sanctuaries. They are left to fend for themselves in a world where men are men and women are nothing more than victims to be eaten and raped. The USAF plays the villain for most of the story, as they are masters of the art of cannibalism and sexual misconduct. Then the Chinese show up.
The Chinese are bad guys too, though it’s not clear that they are bad guys because they intend to kill Americans after the US ceases operations. That’s unimportant. The purpose is mainly to allow the military-industrial complex to focus its firepower on people who don’t speak English. To this end, the Chinese are an ideal faceless group on Earth who can be eliminated.
If all of this makes you laugh, that’s fine. The plot will make Robert E. Howard beat his chest and laugh out loud. road Totally worthless. McCarthy explores the bond between father and son. Cannibal ruleyou’ll explore the connection between men and their penises and the women who worship them.
The most ridiculous thing is this: this book is actually really fun to read. The story is silly and offensive to women and foreigners, but it keeps you turning the pages. You root for the scientists and the special forces operatives. Colonial excels at immersing the reader in the world he creates. Somehow, the whole thing becomes believable and acceptable. Perhaps, this is the real horror behind the story. Cannibal rule.
