Larry Brooks has written another masterful erotic psychological thriller that matches and even surpasses his first novel, Dark Frontier, a book that gives new meaning to the word “relationship” and how even the darkest relationships need a little love from time to time.

“Snake Dance,” the third novel in what Mr. Brooks dubbed a “relationship thriller,” begins its dark and tragic story by introducing Bernadette Kane, a beautiful and strong-willed woman bent on revenge against the man who caused her sister to commit adultery and then commit suicide.

Bernie knows very little about this mysterious man, only that his name is Wesley, that he is wealthy, has a private jet and lives near Phoenix, Arizona. With the help of close friend Eric Killen, she is pointed in the right direction. Before long, she finds herself not only living in Scottsdale, Arizona, but also working for the man (Wesley Edwards) who she believes caused her sister’s tragedy.

It’s no easy feat to win Wesley’s affections and earn his trust, as he’s working on an illegal deal that could make him and his company millions. However, Bernie is a very persistent lady who knows how to use her beauty and intelligence to manipulate a man’s sexual desires. She’ll use every possible means to seduce Wesley and then get her revenge on him. What Bernie is completely unaware of is that a ton of subplots are unfolding around her. There’s more going on beneath the surface than she can imagine.

One of the plots involves a couple calling themselves Diana and Damien – both are into some seriously twisted sex, and now they’re upping the ante to include murder. Damien has his eye on Bernie, trying to draw her into a love triangle and see how close he can get to the raging fire without getting burned. Bernie will soon be busy with the hottest sex of her life, double and triple betrayals, and trying to stay alive long enough to find out what happened to her sister.

I must admit that the eccentricities of Diana and Damian in The Snake Dance really whetted my libido. I was so focused on what they were doing that I lost sight of what was happening in the rest of the novel and was therefore shocked by the unexpected turns. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will tell you to be prepared for the unexpected in the last hundred pages. Nothing is as it seems, and there are a lot of surprises that seem to come out of nowhere before everything is explained.

When it comes to the characters in the novel, Diana and Damian steal the show from everyone. These two are the epitome of darkness, sexual depravity, and death. This is not to detract from the other solid characters in the book. It’s just that Diana and Damian are more interesting and fun, and filled me with curiosity and a desire to learn more about them.

Although things didn’t go quite the way I expected, Larry Brooks created a brilliant thriller that is suspenseful, darkly erotic, and shocking. The author has created a genre all his own, with absolutely no other authors competing with him. Read Snake Dance first, then Dark Bound and Pressure Points to see if I’m right. This author definitely knows how to turn up the heat!
