I always get excited whenever I talk about this book. It is one of the most fun books I have ever read.
It has nothing to do with the lust for teenage girls by a hundred-year-old vampire, and nothing to do with the melancholy of a pale, glittering, crappy vampire like me.
As the little girl who became a vampire put it, she just wanted “red candy.”
An ancient relic turns terminally ill Mortimer Mulcock into the latest incarnation of vampire. Not the fanged kind, no, no, no. I’m talking about a mouth full of 32 super-long, razor-sharp teeth.
This book has humor, gore, action, it’s all there, and if you read carefully you’ll find that there are nods to horror writers of the past and pop culture authors as well.
Each author seemed to be trying to outdo the others, and although everything was going well, there was an air of competition between them that made the book even more exciting.
The story takes place in a hospital, and all the characters are locked in the same place, trying to escape. They don’t really try to figure out how people become like this, or why, they just want to scramble to get out.
My favorite character is probably the balloon twister dressed as a clown. Just read it and you’ll understand.
There’s nothing here that will stand out and be called a “masterpiece,” but that’s totally fine. After reading this book, you’ll feel like you’ve watched a summer blockbuster. Enjoy the process and don’t worry about what the critics think.
I don’t really want to talk too much about the plot of this book because it’s something that needs to be experienced. Just like you can’t explain how you feel when you get off a roller coaster, you can’t explain how you feel when you finish reading this book.
If you like bloody, intense action scenes, then pick this movie up. You won’t be disappointed.
Order Dracula right here.
