I can honestly say that I have never read a better, more cohesive collection of short stories than this one. While there is a common thread throughout the book, each story is unique. They will all leave you a little bit haunted, a little bit lost even, and will stay with you long after you finish reading them. Sick Relaxed 2 It is a must-read.
First Story Double Helix Stephen Bacon’s “Clare’s Death” tells a sad story, but also brings a glimmer of hope. Clare is suffering from cancer and has little time left to live. She leaves her husband behind and goes to the mountains of Scotland with her ex-husband Peter. There, she hopes to find a second chance with Peter’s help.
space shuttle Pregnancy Secrets, written by Shaun Hamilton, tells a rather chilling story. Sally has been trying so hard to get pregnant, but as the biological clock ticks, she has all but given up. She and her husband have just bought a new house in the country, where she can finally fulfill her dream of getting pregnant. However, like all well-laid plans, things don’t always go as planned.
Robert Marmon’s mask It’s the thing that everyone dreads. Harry and Emma are engaged, but unfortunately for Harry, he has a shifty eye. After Emma sees Harry staring at a waitress one too many times, she storms out of the bar they frequent. When Harry returns home later, Emma is gone. She vanishes without a trace until a police officer spots Emma on surveillance video a few months later. Harry goes looking for her, only to have a disastrous outcome.
Poor Tim, I’m sure everyone knows a kid who was bullied. An unfortunate turn Revenge, by Val Walmsley, tells the story of young Tim Slater and what happens when a man is pushed too far. But revenge isn’t always sweet!
It’s a parent’s worst nightmare, and I’m sure we all feel it at times. You’re out shopping with your kids, and when you turn around, they’re gone. In that split second, your heart stops, and then panic sets in. Missing Children Bureau This horror story by Mark West tells the story of a father’s nightmare.
Sheri White tells a nasty little story Paradise LostA family vacation goes wrong; Dad is documenting everything that happens in case anyone is still unclear about what exactly happened.
Last but not least We will always exist Written by Neil Williams. This is an unforgettable novel. It often happens that when we leave our childhood and become adults, we begin to forget our fears, our past. We begin to reimagine the things that once frightened us, and our brains highlight the good in the memory. But, like all things that are buried, they will eventually resurface. The past will always be with us.
Great selection! I hope you find it as inspiring as I did.
